An image is a single frame of a moving story.
The advancing nature of data is being altered and corrupted, and we can only understand society through our technological recognition through analysing both the general and personal accumulation. By embedding different forms of information directly into a photograph code, I can represent data through a personal and comprehendible way. This project represents the physical manifestation of the corruption of data through photographic representation. This image is created by combining sound, photography and information to create a striking, textural look. This aesthetic is visible from the noise produced during the merging process, where the photograph is ripped apart and put back together in a new code configuration. The artwork took around 512 hours (over 3 weeks) to create due to the potential of corruption when changing an image's code. This particular print was created whilst in Chamonix, France, from the Brevent. This is an ongoing project exploring the connection between what we experience and what we know. Within the digital age, there is a constant bombardment of information, but as we lift our heads, this travels to our subconscious, with us but not in front of us. Whilst I was exploring the silent vast mountains, a matter of hours from us was the French farmer protests for better living conditions and better protection for local produce. This project has been exploring the relationship between the silence of a photograph, the stillness of the mountains and the noise required for change. Combining these two forms of information has a visual impact, creating noise within the photograph and changing the visual structure or even colour. Just as constant interaction with digital information has a subconscious effect on an individual.
The artwork has a gold/yellow toned background which is why I chose to print onto Brushed (gold) Aluminium Dibond. Edition of 5
